Kentucky-licensed medical personnel are needed to assist with Hurricane Katrina disaster recovery efforts, according to a release from the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

Doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and environmental health workers are desperately needed, according to the release, and must be willing to deploy to Mississippi, Alabama or Louisiana. They must also be willing to live in primitive conditions and be deployed for at least one week.

Volunteers fall into two categories, according to the release: Those who can go within 24 hours and those who are available as relief. Volunteers are asked to fill out the volunteer information form at chfs.ky.gov/katrina.htm.

- For more information, contact Rebecca Rogers at (502) 564-7243 or at RebeccaL.Rogers@ky.gov.
