Mark Yager spent a week this summer conducting a tennis camp for kids at Potter Children's Home.
Yager, a senior at Bowling Green High School and member of the varsity tennis team, enlisted the help of friends to conduct the five-day camp.
The camp was Yager's leadership service project needed to achieve Eagle Scout level.
“Most scouts take on a building project,” Yager said. “It took a long time for me to figure out what I wanted to do. I didn't have any knowledge of construction and I wanted a project in which I had plenty of knowledge and I could totally lead. ... (It) finally hit me, I love to play tennis and I love thinking through the best way to teach people.”
Yager said he began preparations for the camp in April, getting T-shirts donated by APEKS Apparel in Scottsville, snacks from Houchens and a canopy from E-Z Rent.
Many at BGHS, where the camp was conducted, also helped out.
Ten children from Potter Children's Home participated in the camp, which required the assistance of numerous volunteers, including John Bromer, John Clark, Harrison Kilgore, Ben Lawson, Will Milliken, John Minton, Andrew Mauney, Brian Sergent, Paul Wood and Kristin Yager.
