A woman being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service for allegedly forging $46,000 in checks is believed to have tried to cash a check in Bowling Green, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.

A woman came into Kroger at 711 Campbell Lane between 12:10 p.m. and 12:20 p.m. Saturday to cash a payroll check for $739, according to a police report. The check was rejected by the store's verification system.

The woman made suggestions to the store's customer service manager about other ways to run the check, which made the manager suspicious, according to the report. The manager didn't cash the check and after the woman left, she reviewed an earlier alert about the woman and kept video surveillance of her.

It's believed the woman was using the name Sheena Wade, who is wanted in Tennessee for similar crimes and is known to use multiple aliases.

A series of related accidents on Interstate 65 Saturday night sent multiple people to hospitals, according to Kentucky State Police.

The last of the accidents happened when Richard Knapp II, 33, of Canton, Ohio, was heading north at 6:58 p.m. at the 48-mile marker in a tractor trailer when he collided with a vehicle driven by Rodney B. Wells Jr., 28, of Nashville, who was slowing for traffic stopped for another accident.

The collision caused a chain reaction involving three tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles.

One of the drivers, Peggy H. Brown, 47, of Radcliff was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, where she is in critical condition.

Wells, 28, and his passenger, Gwendolyn McCollough (age and address unavailable) were taken to The Medical Center for treatment, where information on their condition was unavailable. The other drivers, all from out of town, were uninjured, according to the report.

Just prior the chain reaction, Fred C. Fluker, 39, of Lexington was driving north at the 48-mile marker at 6:33 p.m. when he attempted to stop his vehicle because of another accident.

Fluker lost control of his vehicle due to slick road conditions, according to the report. The vehicle fishtailed and entered a side skid before hitting another vehicle.

His passenger, Angel Fluker, 32, of Lexington was trapped in the vehicle and cut out using the Jaws of Life, according to the report. She was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow and later flown by helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital for multiple leg fractures and a broken hip. Information was not available about the accident Fluker was attempting to stop for.
