A number of dogs were confiscated Thursday as an unexpected part of a drug roundup.
Eighteen pit bulls were found at the home of Joe Moore, 22, 3603 Barren River Road. Police were there to arrest Moore on a warrant for trafficking in marijuana more than eight ounces and less than five pounds.
The dogs were taken to the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society, said Tommy Loving, director of the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force.
It's being investigated to determine if there were any crimes being committed in relation to the dogs, he said. Several tapes seized from Moore's home are believed to contain footage of dog fighting.
“We've never run into that situation before,” Loving said.
A total of 16 of 30 people from Thursday's roundup were apprehended.
