The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has received complaints from residents about phone calls from people claiming they are trying to raise funds for bulletproof police vests.
The office is not involved in any way with the phone solicitation for donations, said Major Randy Hargis, and doesn’t know who is calling.
Activity report — Officers from the Bowling Green Police Department responded to a total of 16,250 incidents in October.
These incidents included 113 drug-related arrests, 58 driving under the influence arrests and a total of 3,951 calls for service.
Officials issued 584 traffic citations and 644 criminal charges. They investigated 313 motor vehicle accidents, which included 72 people being injured.
Drug arrests, DUIs, calls for service and incidents were all down for the month compared to the previous year. There were also 122 fewer criminal charges compared to October 2006 and 26 fewer traffic violations.
Juvenile charges in October included 15 thefts, two sexual abuses, two assaults and one incident each of wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading, disorderly conduct and alcohol intoxication.
