POLICE NEWS: Horse Cave man receives sentence in federal court on drug distribution charge

Frederick Earl Williams Jr., 41, 190 Old Dixie, Horse Cave, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green to seven years in prison for distributing five grams or more of crack cocaine,

Following Williams’ release, he will also have to serve four years of supervised release, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville.

In September, Williams was stopped in Hart County for speeding and crossing over the fog line. Williams gave voluntary consent for a search of his person and his vehicle, but no drugs or weapons were found. Williams was arrested on an outstanding child support warrant from Jefferson County.

At the Hart County Jail, a body cavity search was conducted and about 41 grams of crack was retrieved from the Williams’ rectum. He gave a statement admitting his intent to sell it in Warren County, according to the report.

Williams has three previous state felony convictions for possession of and trafficking in cocaine and marijuana in 1989, 1992 and 1999, according to the report.

The case was investigated by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.



  • A Bowling Green woman was robbed at gunpoint at 9:06 p.m. Sunday while making a business deposit at National City Bank at 2629 Scottsville Road.

    A total of $856 in bills and checks were taken, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.

    The woman was struck several times with the small handgun by the robber, according to the report. There is no description of the suspect.

    Arrest — Matthew Howard Jones, 21, 2224 Grider Pond Road, was charged with first-degree promoting contraband and possession of marijuana at 1:08 a.m. today at 13th Avenue and Magnolia Street, according to a city police report.

    Jones was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for a moving violation. Two bags of marijuana were found in his possession at the scene and another at the Warren County Regional Jail, according to the report.

    He is jailed on a $500 surety bond.

    Burglary — An air conditioner and television valued at $500 were stolen between 2 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Kentucky Street, according to a city police report.

    Burglary — A digital camera and flash valued at $1,480 were stolen between midnight and 6 p.m. Friday from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Stubbins Street, according to a city police report.

    Criminal mischief — Two windows were broken on a vehicle, causing $600 in damage, between 11:20 p.m. and 5:15 a.m. in the 700 block of Patton Way, according to a city police report.

    Criminal mischief — The football field house at Greenwood High School at 5065 Scottsville Road was spray painted, causing $300 in damage, between Friday and Monday.

    Criminal mischief — A large rock hit and scratched a vehicle, causing $500 in damage, between midnight Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Covington Grove, according to a city police report.

    Fraud — Seven fraudulent transactions valued at $800 were made between July 10 and Thursday from Amazon.com using a Bowling Green woman’s account, according to a city police report.

    Receiving stolen property — A 1968 Ford truck that had been reported stolen in 2004 and owned by a Cincinnati man was found at 12:10 a.m. July 15 in the 1900 block of Russellville Road. The vehicle identification number was used to identify the vehicle.

    Theft — Thirty cartons of cigarettes valued at $1,184 were stolen between 3 p.m. July 14 and 7 a.m. Thursday from Minit Mart at 4455 Russellville Road, according to a city police report.

    Theft — Property valued at $1,045 was taken around 6:45 p.m. from a vehicle at the south campus parking lot at 2355 Nashville Road, according to a Western Kentucky Police Department report.

    A window was broken, causing $150 in damage, according to the report.

    Theft — Tools valued at $1,030 were stolen between 8 p.m. Thursday and noon Friday from a vehicle in the 700 block of Patton Way, according to a city police report.

    Theft — Clothing, furniture and household items valued at $25,000 were stolen between May 30 and Friday from an apartment in the 2600 block of Chandler Drive.

    The residents hired a Clarksville, Tenn., company to move their items to California, but the items never arrived, according to a city police report.

    Theft — A chainsaw, two bulldozer chains and two ratchet boomers valued at $525 were stolen between July 12 and Friday from Leichhardt Nursery Supply at 2209 Nashville Road, according to a city police report.

    Theft — Two saws and a nail gun valued at $545 were stolen between July 12 and 7 a.m. Friday from a vehicle at a Habitat for Humanity house at 517 W. 11th Ave., according to a city police report.
