Curtis Burch, Bowling Green’s Grammy-winning dobro player, is headlining the third annual Kentucky RecoveryFest on Saturday at the Athena Cage Amphitheater at Basil Griffin Park.
The festival is intended to promote family fun, fellowship and 12-step recovery.
“While our project started out of our 12-step experience, the RecoveryFest is really for anyone and is open to all who enjoy good music, good food and good fun,” organizers said. “We hope to forge a bond between those in recovery, their families, friends and supporters, and those who are interested in a clean, healthy lifestyle. Hopefully, through RecoveryFest, we can show that people can have fun and enjoy themselves without the use or involvement of alcohol and drugs.”
In addition to Burch, musicians scheduled to perform include Steve Dan Mills of Nashville, Michael Purington of Missoula, Mont., Templeton Thompson of Dickson, Tenn., and Michael Kelsh of Nashville. Two local groups, the Redemption Band and the Rule 62 House Band, will also perform.
There will also be face painting, balloons and a performance by puppet troupe Kids on the Block.
Gates open at 1:30 p.m. and tickets are $15 per person, $25 for couples and $5 for kids under 12. The public can bring lawn chairs or blankets. Concessions will be available. For more information, call 793-0978.
