Norman W. Yokley

Norman “Pap” Wes Yokley, 82, of Bowling Green died at 4:35 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008, in Bowling Green.

The Monroe County native was a retired truck driver for Texaco Bulk Plant. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He truly loved the Lord and was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer who loved the game, having had a hole-in-one six times. He was very competitive and was good at everything he did. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He was a son of the late Finley Mark Yokley and Verdie Norman Yokley and the husband of the late Naomi Ruth Petty Yokley. He was preceded in death by a stepmother, Ruth Compton Yokley; a sister, Josephine O’Bryan; and a stepson, Hoy Belcher.

Funeral is at 3 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, Greenwood Courtyard, 2425 Scottsville Road, Ste. 123, Bowling Green, KY 42104-4457.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Dye Yokley; a son, Wendell Yokley and his wife, Dorothy, of Bowling Green; a daughter, Sue Howard and her husband, Tom, of Bowling Green; a stepdaughter, Donna Gaskey and her husband, Roger, of Morgantown; three stepsons, Barry Belcher of Louisville and Garry Wayne Belcher and Tony Belcher and his wife, Cathy, all of Bowling Green; three brothers, Leroy Mark Yokley and his wife, Mary Alice, of Edmonton and Ottis Lee Yokley and his wife, Jane, and James Lewis Yokley and his wife, Opal, all of Smiths Grove; three sisters, Dee W. Alley and her husband, Dave, and Grace Jessie and her husband, Dan, all of Bowling Green, and Delores East and her husband, Billy Ray, of Smiths Grove; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr Yokley was always good to me and my family and I will always remember the golf outings and even back in the day when the family came out to the bonanza rest where i worked as a teen. myself my family and probably everyone are better people because
