An Indianapolis man was arrested early today after attempting to steal an automated teller machine.
Gary Lee Miller, 23, was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300 and second-degree fleeing and evading police at around 4 a.m. at the Holiday Inn University Plaza, 1021 Wilkinson Trace, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.
The desk clerk at the hotel saw a man on a surveillance camera unplug the machine in the hotel lobby and load it onto a dolly, according to the report. A security guard confronted Miller as he wheeled the ATM outside, and he agreed to put the machine back, according to the report. He brought the ATM back inside the lobby and fled across the hotel parking lot as police arrived, according to the report. He tried to enter the Hilton Gardens Hotel across the street before fleeing back to the Holiday Inn, where he was caught.
Miller is in Warren County Regional Jail without bond.
Accident — Amanda Strautman, 31, of Bowling Green was in stable condition following an accident Wednesday afternoon on Three Springs Road at Bunker Drive.
Strautman was driving a GMC Yukon north when the vehicle went off the road and hit a telephone pole, according to a Kentucky State Police report.
She was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, according to a report.
Arrest — Joe Greg Simelton, 21, 1113 Walker Court, was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree escape at 12:52 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of Lewis Avenue, according to a city police report.
Simelton was identified through fingerprints at a crime scene as one of two subjects who allegedly robbed a man in Bowling Green, according to the report.
After being handcuffed, Simelton ran from police and was found in a shed in a nearby back yard, according to the report.
Simelton is being held on $2,000 bond.
Theft — Cash, a cell phone, cell phone case and keys, valued at $376, were stolen around 2 p.m. from the top of a baby stroller at Dollar General at 310 E. Main Ave., according to a city police report.
Theft — A thousand movies valued at $20,000 were stolen between 7:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. from a vehicle at Wal-Mart at 1201 Morgantown Road, according to a city police report. The movies belonged to the Red Box company and were stolen from an employee’s vehicle.
Theft — A trailer valued at $1,800 was stolen between 5 p.m. Oct. 21 and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Hunter Court, according to a city police report.
