POLICE NEWS: Police ask for help in finding man wanted for fraud

Police are seeking help identifying a man wanted for bank fraud.

A man wanted for fraud in the Newport area who uses the name “David Caldwell Todd” has used this identity with Newport and Bowling Green addresses. Authorities believe the man may have some connection to Bowling Green and a Shive Lane address.

The man is described as white, in his mid-40s, 5-foot-6 and 170 pounds with dark hair and brown eyes.

Arrest — Robert Alexander, 44, of Bowling Green was arrested at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday and charged with falsely reporting an incident, third-degree assault of a police officer and resisting arrest.

According to a Warren County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies responded to Waltrip Drive on a 911 call and determined that the alleged caller, Alexander, falsely reported the incident.

Alexander was intoxicated and became belligerent with deputies, allegedly attempting to hit them and ordering his dog to attack them, according to the release.

Alexander was subdued by a Taser and arrested. No deputies were injured.

He was released Monday from Warren County Regional Jail on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Arrests — Jordan D. Elmore, 20, 217 New Roe Road, Franklin and Ernest D. Smith, 32, 311 Turkey Run Dr., were arrested at about 6 a.m. Saturday during a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Scottsville Road and were each charged with second-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking, with Smith also being charged with possession of burglary tools.

According to a Bowling Green Police Department report, the men were seen Saturday outside an apartment in the 700 block of East 12th Avenue, with one of the men in a parked car as the other got out, went around to the back of the apartment and came out the front door carrying several items concealed by blankets.

A witness provided police with a license plate number for the car and officers stopped the two men moments later.

Police recovered several shoes, clothes, DVDs, a PlayStation 2 video game system, video games and a 20-inch TV that were allegedly stolen. Value of the recovered items was $2,539.

Elmore and Smith remain jailed under a $5,000 bond.

Burglary, criminal mischief — Someone used a cinder block to smash a glass door at American Bank and Trust Operations Center, 1506 U.S. 31-W By-Pass, at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report. No property was taken. Damage totaled $400.

Burglary, theft — Someone broke into a storage shed in the 1100 block of Payne Street between 4 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Tuesday and stole a box of tools, 50 cassette tapes, 20 CDs, a VCR/DVD player, a home stereo system, a video camera and an extension cord, according to city police. Losses totaled $1,240.

Burglary, theft — Someone entered an apartment in the 2400 block of Thoroughbred Drive between 10 p.m. Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Friday and stole a digital camera, a Nintendo Wii video game system and several games, according to city police. Losses totaled $888.

Burglary, theft — Someone stole jewelry valued at $4,000 from a residence in the 5000 block of Glen Lily Road at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Burglary, theft — Someone stole $3,000 in cash and $200 in rolled coins between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday from a residence in the 800 block of Brandy Circle, according to a city police report.

Burglary, theft — Someone stole a Toshiba laptop computer between 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 p.m. Tuesday from an apartment in the 2400 block of Thoroughbred Drive, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $700.

Forgery, theft — Someone cashed several checks from nonexistent accounts totaling $8,444.27 at National City Bank, 2215 Russellville Road between Feb. 19 and Feb. 23, according to a city police report.

Hearing — The case against Saneres Santos, charged with second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence and tampering with physical evidence in connection to the death of Helen Reeves, was bound over to the grand jury Tuesday.

During a preliminary hearing before Warren District Judge John Brown, Bowling Green Police Department Officer Eric Houchins testified that Santos, 25, of Bowling Green was the driver and sole occupant of a vehicle that allegedly struck a motorcycle driven by Reeves, 48, of Lewisburg on Cave Mill Road on June 19, according to Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chris Cohron.

Houchins said that Santos crossed the center line and struck Reeves, who was killed on impact. A toxicology report showed his blood alcohol content to be 0.285, well above the legal limit of 0.08 for drivers, Cohron said.

Brown found probable cause to send the case to the grand jury, which will hear the case today and consider whether to indict.

Santos remains jailed under a $50,000 bond.

Missing person — Jennifer Zamilpa, 17, was reported missing Friday by her mother, according to a Warren County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies believe that Zamilpa left her Maple Leaf Drive residence and may be en route to Texas with her boyfriend, Victor Gonzalez. Zamilpa is Hispanic, 5-4, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a nightgown and took clothing, jewelry and a laptop computer prior to leaving.

Anyone with information on Zamilpa’s whereabouts can call the sheriff’s office at 842-1633.

Theft — Someone stole a purse containing $500 from a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Parkhurst Drive between 9 p.m. June 30 and 9 a.m. July 1, according to a city police report.

Thefts — Deputies with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a number of thefts at Beech Bend Park. At about 5:35 p.m. Friday, someone stole jewelry, a cell phone, cash, a digital camera and other items from a parked car. The two occupants reported that losses totaled $2,410.

At about 7 p.m. Saturday, someone stole a purse, a GPS unit, a portable game system and a cell phone from another vehicle. Losses totaled $1,080.

Wanton endangerment — A woman pointed a handgun at a man during an argument in the 1200 block of North Lee Drive between 7:45 p.m. and 7:49 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report. Several witnesses gave statements consistent with the alleged victim, though when reached later by police, the woman denied possessing a gun.
