POLICE NEWS: City police respond to various burglary reports

Burglary, criminal mischief — A window pane was broken Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 553 Ashmore Ave., causing $300 in damage, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report. A witness saw a man leaving the church on foot after hearing the sound of the window breaking, but it appeared no entry had been made into the church.

Burglary, criminal mischief, theft — A paper shredder and a box of papers, valued at $30, were reported stolen from a vacant home in the 1300 block of Clay Street between Friday and Tuesday, according to a city police report. Entry to the home was apparently made through a broken storm window, causing $30 in damage.

Criminal mischief, theft — A purse containing $270 in cash and other items, valued collectively at $671, was reported stolen Wednesday from a vehicle parked at the Olde Stone development clubhouse, 951 Village Way, according to a city police report. The vehicle’s window was smashed, causing $400 in damage.

Theft — A Bowling Green man said a supposed Florida marketing company made $1,000 in unauthorized withdrawals on his bank account after he sent it $998 to help him rent his timeshare, according to a city police report. The victim told police the phone numbers he had for the company were no longer working.

Theft — Three rings and a watch, valued collectively at $3,950, were reported stolen from a home in the 900 block of Richland Drive between June 7 and Monday, according to a city police report.

Theft — Someone stole 150 Xanex and buspirone pills and fishing equipment from a vehicle parked in the 3800 block of Scottsville Road on Wednesday, according to a city police report. The stolen items were valued at $100.

Crime Stoppers — Police are seeking help to identify a man wanted for bank fraud.

A man wanted for fraud in the Newport area who uses the name David Caldwell Todd has used this identity with Newport and Bowling Green addresses. Authorities believe the man may have some connection to Bowling Green and a Shive Lane address.

The man is described as white, in his mid-40s, 5-foot-6 and 170 pounds with dark hair and brown eyes.
