Warren County Public Schools will have separate “Back to School Bashes” this year.

The schools all attended the same “Back to School Bash” last year, but now each high school, with its associated middle school, will have their own bash, said Susan Tabor, coordinator of the Natcher Elementary Family Resource Center.

“Everyone’s doing it different this year as to what they’re supplying for the children,” she said.

The Warren County schools’ Family Resource Centers are sponsoring the events, which help prepare students for school by providing school supplies, immunizations and information about the school and other programs, Tabor said.

The coordinators at the centers decided to have separate bashes to make it easier for people to get to their school’s bash, she said.

“They may not have had transportation to get to the one location last year,” Tabor said.

The bash for students who feed into Henry F. Moss Middle School and Warren Central High School will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 27 at Warren Central.

Students who will go to Drakes Creek Middle School and Greenwood High School will attend a bash from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 28 at Drakes Creek.

The last bash will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 30 at Warren East Middle School for Warren East Middle and High School students.

Immunizations will only be provided at the Warren East bash, so all Warren County students are invited to that bash to update their immunizations, said Jennifer Madison, youth services coordinator at Drakes Creek Middle School.

She said the Barren River District Health Department could only accommodate one bash. Students need a parent or guardian at the bash and their immunization record to get the free immunizations.

There will be no physicals provided at the bashes this year, but information about other ways to get immunizations and physicals will be available at each event, Madison said. Parents can also contact their child’s school’s family resource coordinator to find out how to get free immunizations and physicals.

Each bash will have free refreshments and information booths about programs such as community education, free school supplies and entertainment.

For example, elementary students will get a drawstring backpack with a notebook, pencils, crayons and a glue stick and middle and high school students will get a notebook, a three-ring binder and pencils at the Drakes Creek bash, Madison said. Entertainment at that bash will include music and an inflatable.

Bowling Green Independent Schools will host its “Purple Pride Readifest” from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School, said Paula Moore, receptionist at the Bowling Green Independent Schools’ office.

Free immunizations, information about community programs and food will be available for all city school students at that bash, she said. All students will also get a free T-shirt.

Immunizations will be provided by the Barren River District Health Department and students will need a parent and their immunization records at the bash, Moore said.

Each city school will also host its own open house before school starts Aug. 4.
