The Art Education Task Force Announces Show Choir for Middle and High School

The Arts Education Task Force is a committee headed by Flora Templeton Stuart that has expanded the programs at the Capitol Arts Youth Theatre to include exceptional students, homeschooled students as well as created a show choir for grades 3-9 and 9-12.
There are a few spots left to join the Show Choir for grades 3-9 before their season begins. Signups will continue until January, but spaces are limited. To join, contact director Stacie Johnson at (270)996-0730 or e-mail at dejohnstone24@yahoo.com.
There will be a holiday season and then a regular program beginning in January. They will be attending the Nashville National competition to compete in 2011, and also plan to visit venues all over the community.
Beginning in January there will also be a High School Show Choir for grades 9-12. Contact Stacie to get on the waiting list. Space is limited. The group will perform all music types as well as have lock-ins, retreats, tours and field trips.
Rehearsals will take place on Sundays 3-5 pm for grades 3-9. The High School schedule is yet to be set.
Grades 3-9: (October 18, 2009- May 2010) Cost: $200 Oct. – Jan. and $250 Feb. – May.
High School: Cost: $250 Jan. – May Costumes and Show Stopper jackets to be purchased.
There is a one-time $50 registration per family.
About the Director, Stacie Johnson: WKU BA in Music Education, Vocal p-12; WKU minor in theatre; Private voice teacher since 2002; Choir Director for Warren Central High School 2006-2008; Director and music director for Anything Goes and Footloose; Director of the Madrigal Choir; Musical director for The Sun’s Musicians, Dark of the Moon, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Co-founder of the Young Aspiring Actor’s Association; Participant in the Franklin Arts Council and Western Kentucky University Bowling Green Chamber Singers.
About the Choreographer, Rachel McCubbins: WKU Senior in fashion, costume design and dance. United States Institute for theatre Technology; Dance instructor at Dance Images; CAYT. Choreographer for Grease & Disney Show at CAYT; Wizard of Oz at Greenwood High School; Greenwood High School Show Choir Choreographer. Performed at WKU; awards in competitions in KY, TN, ID, and GA. Volunteered for BG Girls Inc., WKU and BG Christian Academy.
