Cameron Beal wins Junior POY

Greenwood High School golfer Cameron Beal was named the 2009 Junior Player of the Year this week, according to the Kentucky Golf Association and the Kentucky Section PGA.

Beal joins girls’ honoree Emily Haas of Nicholasville.

Beal’s consistent play in 2009 helped earn him the top spot, including finishes near the top in the Pepsi Tournament of Champions, Kentucky Junior Amateur, Kentucky Qualifier for the Junior PGA Championship and the Indiana/Kentucky Junior Challenge Cup. Beal also qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur.

Beal and Haas will be honored at the Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Lexington Country Club on Nov. 19.
