Art
Shelley Owens’ photography is on display at the Cancer Center at The Medical Center through Dec. 15.
The drawings and paintings of Steve Clay will be featured in the Mezzanine Gallery of the Capitol Arts Center through Nov. 17.
The work of Bowling Green native Granville Mitchell is on display through Nov. 30 at the Bob Kirby Branch of the Warren County Public Library at 175 Iron Skillet Court. Mitchell is a self-taught artist who works as a ticket agent at the Greyhound Bus Terminal.
The work of David Marquez and Joon Sung will be exhibited through Nov. 17 in the Houchens Gallery. A reception for the artists will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Artists are being sought for the 2009 All Kentucky Juried Exhibition, which will be Nov. 20-Jan. 4 at the Capitol Arts Center. Artists who reside in Kentucky and are over 18 can enter. There will be a $500 Best of Show award and 10 other cash awards. Entries are due Tuesday and Wednesday. Entry forms are available in the lobby of the Capitol Arts Center.
The Presbyterian Church Gallery is showcasing art works by church members and others affiliated with the church through Nov. 21. The exhibit, “Celebrating Our Gifts,” features a variety of paintings, works on paper and mixed media. This exhibit is the second of two church-affiliated exhibits for 2009. The exhibit can be seen from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The public is invited to the reception and to the gallery during viewing hours.
“Salade Nicoise: Paintings By Marsha Heidbrink” is on display through Nov. 30 at The Medical Center’s Health & Wellness Center in Greenwood Mall from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays.

“Side by Side Statewide” is an exhibition of artistic collaborations from Bowling Green, Louisville, Lexington, Somerset and Murray that all participated in the Side By Side Visual Arts Program offered by VSA arts of Kentucky. The exhibition will be at the Kentucky Library and Museum through Dec. 6. The artwork was created by students with disabilities and professional artists working side by side.
Campus
Western Kentucky University’s Homecoming Concert is at 7:30 p.m. tonight at E.A. Diddle Arena, featuring Day 26, Keri Hilson and Noize Joi. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 at the door.
Western Kentucky University will have a free guitar ensemble concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
Western Kentucky University’s Symphony will perform Autumn Romance at First Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students.
Western Kentucky University’s Hardin Planetarium begins its Star of Bethlehem presentation Tuesday. The annual show displays the Bethlehem sky around the time Christ was born, and discusses several astronomical possibilities for the Christmas star. Shows will be at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 10. It is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday. Doors open a half-hour before the program, and no one is admitted once it starts.
Western Kentucky University’s Department of Art opened its 2009 Student Juried Exhibition, on display through Nov. 20 in the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Gallery, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Many pieces are for sale.
Western Kentucky University will have “An afternoon with Schumann” at 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. The free concert will feature soprano Liza Kelly, Sylvia Kersenbaum on piano and guest baritone Jeremy Kelly.

The Factory at Cave City will feature The Moon Woods Band from 8 p.m. to midnight on the first Saturday of each month. The facility is on U.S. 31-W, just north of the Ky. 90 intersection across from Dollar General Store.

Bowling Green Western Choral Society will have its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at First Baptist Church. Tickets are $10, $8 and $5.
Barren River Lake State Resort Park will have an open mic jam session the first Tuesday of each month. All musicians are invited to participate in the Tuesday Tunes Jam Sessions from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. inside the Louie B. Nunn Lodge and The Driftwood Restaurant. Dinner hours are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Calvin Ray’s Live Music & Restaurant in Leitchfield features live music with Calvin Ray and The Blue Moon Highway Band from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. each Saturday. For more information, call (502) 538-2893.

This weekend at Kentucky Repertory Theatre in Horse Cave, Western Kentucky University students, staff and faculty can see “Dracula” with a two-for-one discount. The Kentucky Live! Series will feature author Robert Dickey, discussing “Charles Garvin; Dynasty of Dimes.” The program will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Barnes & Noble Booksellers.
