Bowling Green Technical College has a new name. BGTC will soon be known as Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, college spokesman Mark Brooks said in a release.
The Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents recently approved the name change.
An expansion of programs offered by the college led to the consideration of the name change.
On Aug. 3, 2010, Bowling Green Technical College received approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the associate in arts and associate in science degrees, making the college a comprehensive community and technical college.
This allows students transfer opportunities as well as technical degrees, diplomas and certificates for high wage/high demand careers, according to a news release.
