Dozens of passengers were taken to three separate hospitals Wednesday after the tour bus they were in overturned after failing to negotiate a curve on Kentucky Route 728 in Hart County.

A charter bus carrying 55 people, including 34 students was headed to Washington, D.C. when is crashed, five miles from Cub Run Elementary School according to Kentucky State Police Trooper Jonathan Biven. Biven said that injuries were minor in nature and people were transported by ambulance and private vehicles.

The bus was righted and removed from the scene about three hours after the 5:45 p.m. wreck.

Several students and their parents were still on the scene when bus was taken to a local garage.

Kentucky State Police are reconstructing the accident scene.
