Debra Denise Keown Jordan of Bowling Green ended a long and valiant struggle with cancer. She passed away at 1:45 a.m. Aug. 15, 2012, at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green, surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Eufaula, Ala., on Sept. 2, 1955, to E. Otto Keown Jr. and Darlene Spencer Keown, she graduated from Hancock County High School and Western Kentucky University. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Gemstone Sunday School Class. She retired from the state of Kentucky Highway Department and the Revenue Department.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew C. Jordan II; twin daughters, Shellie Willett Hardcastle and her husband, Dr. Samuel Hardcastle, of Bowling Green, and Shanon Willett Simons and her husband, Gregory Simons, of Nashville; a stepdaughter, Samantha Jordan of Bowling Green; a stepson, Benjamin Jordan of Louisville; her mother, Darlene Spencer Smith of Bowling Green; an uncle, Dennis Keown (Lisa) of Hawesville; a brother, Dr. Kevin O. Keown (Judy) of Jesup, Ga., and their daughters, Kelly Dilger and her husband, J.J., of Big Lake, Minn., and Kristen Keown of Jesup Ga., and son, Kyle Keown of Jesup Ga.; several cousins; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, E. Otto Keown Jr.; grandparents, E. Otto Keown Sr. and Julia Mosbey Keown and Charles Hayden Spencer and Jewel Moore Spencer; and two uncles, Charles Hayden Spencer Jr. (Peggy) and Delbert Waddle Spencer (Elene).

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdayat J.C. Kirby Funeral Home, Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, with a memorial service from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Instead of flowers, Debra would want you to consider a donation to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or the American Cancer Society.
