George R. DiGiorgio

HOOVER, Ala. – George Ross DiGiorgio, 73, of Birmingham, died peacefully Nov. 25, 2006, with his wife and children at his side.
The son of Italian immigrants, he was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Birmingham to the late Rose and George DiGiorgio. He married Marie Petruzella on May 25, 1954, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. He will most be remembered for his endless hours of dedication to his wife, his family and his community. George served as chairperson for the Metro Sertoma Club for many years and volunteered at his church, St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. The DiGiorgios resided in Bowling Green, Ky., from 1969-1975 and were active members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Mass is at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. A reception for family and friends follows in the Parish Hall of the church.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; eight children, Rick, Bill, Mark, Phillip, Anita, Donna, Christopher and Michael, as well as their spouses; 15 grandchildren; and three sisters, Connie Tamburello, Marie Trapolino and Theresa Jo Timburello.
