Majel Lois “Madge” Ison Shields, 92, of Bowling Green, died Nov. 19, 2013, at 9:21 a.m. at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. 

The Clintwood, Va., native was born Dec. 20, 1920, to the late Ray Alexander and Melster Mullins Ison. She is the widow of James Ray “Jimmie” Shields. She is also preceded in death by her sons, James Ray Shields II and Dale Shields. She was the former owner of Shields Gifts and Gallery. She was a charter member of Eastwood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. She was past president of the Bowling Green Business Women’s Club and past member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Chapter Theta No. 1662, Altrussa Club and Senior Adult Club of Eastwood Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her granddaughter, Jamie Marie Shields Kondracki and her husband, Jason, of Bowling Green; her brother, Dr. Harry C. Ison of Bellingham, Wash.; and her three great-grandchildren, Pvt. Michael A. Kondracki USMC, Nathan Kondracki and Abigale Kondracki, all three of Bowling Green. 

Madge requested to be cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel.
