Allen County-Scottsville sophomore guard Morgan Rich has most of her prep career ahead of her, but she’s already reaching milestones.
Rich scored her 1,000th point last week, then followed that performance with a combined 35 points in wins over Edmonson County and Butler County.
“I had been really wanting to get that since fourth grade,” Rich said of the 1,000-point mark. “That was always my dream, so I’m going to hopefully try to break some records.”
Rich scored 16 points Tuesday against Butler County and 19 Saturday against Edmonson County.
She had 29 points and a career-high 14 rebounds Jan. 22 against Metcalfe County, where she scored her 1,000th point.
The 5-foot-11-inch guard has led ACS (18-3) in scoring in 18 of 21 games.
“It’s a testament to the kind of work ethic she has,” ACS coach Brad Bonds said. “It’s definitely something special, and doing it your sophomore year is a tremendous honor. Barring some setbacks or injuries, she’s going to be a huge player for ACS.”
