Western Kentucky may see a change in quarterback Saturday when the Hilltoppers (1-2) play Morgan State (0-3) in their home opener at 6 p.m. at Houchens-Smith Stadium.

Multiple sources close to the program and the player have told me that starter Brandon Doughty dressed for Tuesday’s practice, but did not participate. Those sources also said Doughty did not attend Wednesday’s practice at all and that true freshman Todd Porter took the majority of snaps with the first-team offense.

Coach Bobby Petrino is scheduled to meet with the media at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Doughty is 71 of 115 passing for 775 yards and five touchdowns. He also leads all of the Football Bowl Subdivision in interceptions with eight.

Porter (O’Fallon, Ill.) has yet to appear in a contest wearing a WKU uniform. Redshirt freshman DaMarcus Smith (Seneca High/Louisville) played late in a 52-20 loss at Tennessee, running three times for nine yards and going 0-for-2 passing.
