The Bowling Green Hot Rods were unable to solve Fort Wayne (Ind.) starter Max Fried and three relievers Wednesday, falling 3-0 to the TinCaps in Fort Wayne.
Bowling Green (24-13) was held to six hits, two from Leonardo Reginatto, as Fort Wayne (23-14) evened the three-game series.
The Hot Rods’ best chance to score came in the fifth. Ryan Dunn walked and Patrick Leonard singled with one out, putting runners at first and second with one out. Reginatto followed with a single to center, with Dunn being thrown out trying to score from second.
Fort Wayne scored all its runs in the sixth, with all three runs charged to BG starter Blake Snell.
The left-hander allowed a two-run home run to Jeremy Ballz, then issued a two-out walk to Brian Adams.
Marcus Jensen relieved Snell and allowed a double to Rodney Daal that scored Adams.
Snell took the loss, dropping to 1-4 on the season. He allowed six hits with four strikeouts and three walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Fried tossed six shutout innings, scattering four hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
The series concludes at 6:05 p.m. CDT today with BG right-hander Dylan Floro (3-0, 1.16) facing Fort Wayne left-hander Justin Hancock (2-0, 1.59).
