The Western Kentucky women's basketball team traded the lead several times late with Arkansas State on Saturday, but Jane Morrill's three-point play in the waning seconds sent WKU to a 78-74 loss at E.A. Diddle Arena.
The Lady Toppers fall to 17-6 and 10-4 in Sun Belt Conference play with the loss, which was their first at home in league play this season.
Arkansas State (13-11, 10-5) shot 52.6 percent and got a combined 61 points from Morrill, Hanna Qedan and Jalen O'Bannon.
Sophomore guard Alexis Govan paced WKU with 23 points, while sophomore forward Chastity Gooch - who fouled out with 2:32 to play - finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds for her nation-leading 20th double-double in 23 games.
The attendance was a season-high 2,314, which is the largest non-Education Day crowd for a women's game at Diddle Arena since February 2009.
The Lady Tops return to action at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Florida Atlantic.
