Bowling Green sophomore Mackenzie Elkins won a pair of matches with third-set, 10-point tiebreakers Wednesday at Kereiakes Park to reach Thursday's Region 4 girls' tennis tournament final against Greenwood junior and three-time defending champion Cassie Pennington.
The No. 2 seed Elkins beat Metcalfe County's Lauren Coffey 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) in the quarterfinals, then outlasted No. 3 seed Chandra Taylor of Glasgow 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9). The top-seeded Pennington won 6-0, 6-0 over both Bowling Green's Lauren Wiseman and Barren County's Jordan Gardner.
