The South Warren girls' basketball team (5-13) rallied from an 11-point deficit with less than four minutes to play Monday, forcing overtime against Muhlenberg County before falling 59-56 at SWHS.

The defeat was the Lady Spartans' seventh in a row and its eighth this season by four points or fewer.

Sophomore forward Colby Downing scored a game-high 23 points, including 18 in the fourth quarter and overtime period. Freshman forward Timitryi Patterson had 13 points, and senior forward Brittney Taylor chipped in seven points and seven rebounds.

Muhlenberg County (16-5) shot 32.3 percent from the floor and forced 22 South Warren turnovers. Hope Marigny paced the Lady Mustangs with 15 points, while Caitlin Peterson and MaKayla Sampson added 14 apiece.

The Lady Spartans return to District 14 action at 6 p.m. today at home against Warren Central.
