Former Greenwood High School tennis standout and high school state champion Beck Pennington will highlight the field at this weekend’s W.A. Weldon Open Tennis Tournament and Jim Moody Doubles Classic at Gorin Park in Glasgow.

Pennington, a sophomore-to-be at the University of Kentucky, is seeking a second-straight Weldon singles title. Last year he rallied from a set down to defeat former NCAA national singles runner-up Austen Childs in the semifinals en route to the singles championship. Childs is entered again this year, along with his former Louisville doubles partner Viktor Maksimcuk. Childs and Maksimcuk will be aiming for their third consecutive doubles championship in Glasgow.

Bowling Green natives Andy True, Chad True and Will True will also be in action.

First-round matches begin at 4 p.m. Friday at Gorin Park. Play continues all day Saturday, with the finals Sunday. Admission is free.
