WKU softball team splits 2 games in Miss.

The Western Kentucky softball team opened its season Friday with a two-game split, beating Murray State 9-1 before falling 5-3 to Northwestern State at Mississippi State’s Bulldog Battle in Starkville, Miss.

Senior Kellie Quarles led WKU over the two games with four hits and four RBIs, while fellow senior Katrina Metoyer had three hits.
