The Western Kentucky softball team (24-10-1, 6-0 Sun Belt Conference) hosts the No. 21-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette (25-6-1, 6-0) in a three-game series starting with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today at the WKU Softball Complex.

WKU kept its win streak alive with a 10-4 win over rival Middle Tennessee on Wednesday. The Lady Toppers’ eighth straight win was highlighted by senior Amanda Thomas’ grand slam. Senior Olivia Watkins was 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored.

Watkins also tied WKU’s all-time steals record after recording one against the Blue Raiders. Watkins has 92 steals in her career, tying Renita Pennington’s number set in her career from 2002-05. The Florence, Ala., native has 30 steals this year, and her 38 steals in 2013 set a single-season record at WKU.

The Ragin’ Cajuns lead the series 42-12, including a 20-4 record in Bowling Green. WKU won last year’s series in Lafayette, La., after taking games two and three.
