Description
A Bowling Green native, Marc Owens took up the drums at age 10 after seeing Ring Starr on television. His first band in various incarnations included Bill Lloyd, Bobby Baldwin and Tommy Hendricks. He began working as a sound engineer at the Episcopal church.
He studied percussion at Western Kentucky University but quit to tour with Wynlych Penn which as signed to Triangle Talent. He spent a few years in Nebraska and then returned to Bowling Green in 1980 where he interned at Morningstar Studio and joined the band HiFi (formerly TyBarc) and also Sgt. Arms.
The next year, Owens started High Street Studio with Billy Smith of Wynlych Penn. After gigs with a variety of local musicians he joined Foster and Lloyd which opened for Roy Orbison, Hank Williams Jr., Restless Heart and Vince Gill.
In 1989 he closed High Street Studio and ran sound for Picture This and the Kentucky HeadHunters. He began touring with Clay Walker but after a couple of years returned to Bowling Green to reopen High Street Studio.
He is a member of Hillvue Heights which utilizes his skills as both a drummer and sound engineer. He is also active in the SonRhea Foundation.
