Ronald D. ‘Ronnie’ Sims

BOWLING GREEN – Mr. Ronald D. Sims, age 75 of Bowling Green, KY, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Clarksville, TN. Ronnie was born June 12, 1949, in Warren County, KY to the late Owen William Sims and the late Loretta Settle Sims. He is also preceded in death by his step-mother, Jeanetta Ann Sims, and two siblings, brother, Donald Gene Sims and sister, Janice Sims Taylor.

He is survived by his daughter Jackie Sims Francis (Steve) of Springfield, TN; sister, Becky Herman (Pat) of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Josh Stewart (Courtney), Katie Mason (Scott), Taye Francis and Maddie Francis; great-grandchildren, Noah Mason, and River Mason; nephews, Miks Sims (Aimee), and Dustin Herman; niece, Shelby Escamilla (Eric). Many cousins also survive. Ronnie was a member at Plano Baptist Church and a proud Marine Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the Rolling Thunder Club and the VFW. Ronnie loved his grandchildren, his dog, Slick, and his cat, Sammy. He was known to be the life of the party and was loved by so many. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with all his cousins. The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.

Funeral services for Ronald “Ronnie” Sims are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 12:00pm with burial to follow in the Plano Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Wednesday at 9:00am until time of service at 12:00pm. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donation be made to the Bowling Green Humane Society.
