WKU loses 23-23 to Louisiana Tech

Kentucky redshirt sophomore linebacker Eli Brown (Warren East Class of 2015) totaled six tackles in the Wildcats' 23-13 road win over Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina on Saturday in Columbia, S.C.

Brown had three solo stops, including one tackle for loss.

UK junior defensive tackle Adrian Middleton (South Warren Class of 2014) notched two tackles, including a solo stop, in the win.

Kentucky (3-0 overall, 1-0 SEC) returns to action Saturday at home against SEC rival Florida.

Centre senior quarterback Devin Hayes (Bowling Green Class of 2014) connected on a pair of touchdown passes and Colonels junior running back Colin Burnam (Warren Central Class of 2015) added a rushing touchdown in Saturday's 52-42 home win over Southern Athletic Association rival Hendrix (Ark.).

Hayes tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Jordan Gunter in the first quarter, then hooked up with Cody Estep on a 17-yard strike in the second period. Hayes finished the day 19 of 34 passing for 238 yards and 2 TDs.

Burnam had a 19-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He totaled 106 rushing yards on 15 carries, and added one reception for 19 yards.

Centre (3-0, 1-0 SAA) is back in action Saturday at SAA rival Berry (Ga.).

Redshirt sophomore running back Marquez Trigg (Glasgow Class of 2015) tallied 48 rushing yards on 14 carries in Western Kentucky's 23-22 loss to Conference USA rival Louisiana Tech on Friday at Houchens-Smith Stadium.

Trigg also had three catches for 16 yards.

WKU senior wide receiver Nacarius Fant (Bowling Green Class of 2014) totaled four catches for 25 yards and added a pair of kickoff returns for 14 yards.

On defense, redshirt junior linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe (South Warren Class of 2014) tallied five tackles – two solo – and had half a sack. Redshirt sophomore linebacker Ben Holt (Bowling Green Class of 2015) totaled four tackles (two solo) and redshirt sophomore defensive back Ta'Corian Darden (Russellville Class of 2015) finished with three tackles (two solo), including one tackle for loss.

WKU (1-2 overall, 0-1 C-USA) is back in action Saturday at home against Ball State.

Kentucky Wesleyan freshman defensive end Dalan Cofer (Bowling Green Class of 2017) tallied four tackles, including a sack, in the Panthers' 30-23 road loss to Kentucky State on Saturday.

Cofer had three solo stops, and the sack cost Kentucky State six yards lost.

KWC freshman defensive back Malcolm Johnson (Greenwood Class of 2017) also had four tackles, including three solo stops. Panthers sophomore defensive tackle Curtis Johnson (Warren Central Class of 2016) and freshman wide receiver Ben Hughes (Glasgow Class of 2017) chipped in with one tackle each.

KWC sophomore wide receiver Jacob Yates (Bowling Green Class of 2016) had two kickoff returns for 28 yards, one punt return for four yards and completed a pass in the game.

Kentucky Wesleyan (1-2) is back in action Sept. 30 at Hillsdale (Mich.) for the start of Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.

Indiana State redshirt junior cornerback Rondell Green (Warren Central Class of 2013) had a team-high two pass breakups in Saturday's 42-41 road loss to Liberty.

Green finished with six tackles in total, including a pair of solo stops and 0.5 tackles for loss.

Indiana State (0-3) returns to action Sept. 30 at Illinois State. It will be the Sycamores' Missouri Valley Football Conference opener.

Austin Peay redshirt defensive end Byron Carver (Warren Central Class of 2014) tallied a tackle in the Governors' 69-13 home win Saturday over Morehead State.

Austin Peay (1-2) is back in action Saturday at Murray State.

Murray State redshirt junior punter Landon Stratton (Logan County Class of 2014) totaled 10 punts in Saturday's 28-21 road loss to Missouri State.

Stratton averaged 39.4 yards per punt, with a longest of 53 yards and three punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jensen Feggins (Warren Central Class of 2015) finished with one catch for a yard.

Murray State (1-2) next plays on Saturday against visiting Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay at Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray.

Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) sophomore linebacker Shawn Jewell (Warren Central Class of 2016) tallied four tackles in Saturday's 45-0 road loss to Saint Xavier (Ill.).

Jewell had two solo tackles, one tackle for loss totaling three yards, and had a quarterback hurry for the Lynx.

Lindenwood-Belleville (0-3) is back in action Sept. 30 at Concordia (Mich.) for the start of Mid-States Football Association play.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore defensive lineman Damani Jenkins (Barren County Class of 2015) tallied a sack in the Blue Raiders' 68-26 road win over Union (Ky.) on Saturday in Barbourville.

Jenkins' sack resulted in a three-yard loss for Union.

A pair of former area standouts – junior linebacker Anthony Kelsey (Warren East Class of 2015) and redshirt freshman linebacker Demonte Bell (Greenwood Class of 2016) – had solid games for the Bulldogs in the loss. Kelsey finished with three tackles, including two solo stops. Bell also had three tackles, including one solo.

Lindsey Wilson (3-0) returns home to host Southeastern (Fla.) on Saturday in Columbia. Union (2-2) is back in action Sept. 30 at Cumberlands.
