Bowling Green High School graduate B. Chance Saltzman was recently promoted to major general in the Air Force and was deployed to Qatar in the Middle East for a 12-month assignment.

He is deputy commander, U.S. Air Forces Central Command, and deputy, Combined Force Air Component Commander, U.S. Central Command, Southwest Asia.

As deputy commander, he is responsible for the command and control of all air operations in a 20-nation area of responsibility covering Central and Southwest Asia, and leading more than 43,000 Air Force personnel conducting operations for the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq and Syria.
