Barren River flooding in 1969

Barren River is seen flooded in 1969.

June 25, 1969

Flooding in late June is common in Warren County. On June 25, 1969, the Barren River overflowed its banks with a 45-foot crest, 17 feet above flood level.

Many families were evacuated from areas close to the Barren River in Bowling Green. An Associated Press article published in The Paducah Sun reported that people were missing and many roads were impassable because of the flooding.
