May 26, 1814

In the book "Deed Abstracts of Warren County, Kentucky 1812-1821," John White sold his share of Lot 1 in Bowling Green to Henry Shanks for $40 on May 26, 1814.

White and Shanks had earlier bought the half-acre lot from Bowling Green founder Robert Moore. While not the first lot sold, it was at the very edge of the new, fledgling town at what is today the corner of Chestnut Street and Main Avenue. (Many thanks to Tonya Colley at the City-County Planning Commission of Warren County for helping pinpoint where it was.)
