Joseph B. Magrath, 86, of Bowling Green died at 8:55 a.m. Dec. 15, 2002, at The Medical Center at Franklin.The Ossining, N.Y., native was a retired New York City police officer, director of school transportation for the state of New York, former mayor of Croton on Hudson, N.Y., a World War II Army veteran, member and past exalted ruler of Benevolent Order of Elks Lodge No. 1468, and a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Holy Name Society. He was a son of the late Richard Magrath and Dillia OGrady Magrath.Funeral mass will be at 12:05 p.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he was a member. The body will be cremated. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Lung Association.Survivors include his wife, Colleen R. Magrath; a son, Richard Magrath of San Diego; three stepdaughters, Jody Karoly and Cory Malone, both of Escondido, Calif., and Cathy Huett of San Marcox, Calif.; two stepsons, Scott Boettcher of El Cajon, Calif., and Derek Boettcher of Temaculete, Calif.; three grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren and two nieces.
