The body of a partially clothed woman was found Monday morning on a downtown rooftop in Glasgow.
At 10:10 a.m., Glasgow police received a call about a possible dead body on the roof of a business on the Glasgow Public Square.
“Upon arrival we did discover that there was in fact a female that was deceased,” Glasgow police Chief Guy Howie said.
Police later identified the woman as Krystal Mitchell, 30, of Austin Tracy.
Mitchell’s manner of death has not yet been determined, Howie said. But the police are treating the death as “suspicious.”
Her body was taken Monday to the state medical examiner’s office, where an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, he said.
Howie declined to say whether Mitchell’s body showed any visible signs of trauma, but he said police have no reason, as of Monday afternoon, to believe that she had been sexually assaulted.
Howie estimates that Mitchell had been dead for about 72 hours.
In addition to being only partially clothed, Mitchell was not wearing any shoes, Howie said.
Anyone with information possibly related to Mitchell’s death can call Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous or call Capt. Arborgast of the Glasgow Police Department at 270-651-6165.
