An Edmonson County woman arrested Monday is accused of leaving her three children, all younger than 4 years of age, alone at home while she traveled to Bowling Green.

According to the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, Kala Ware, 25, of Wingfield, was charged with three counts of abandonment of a minor.

Dispatch received a complaint around 11:30 p.m. Monday from a concerned relative who suspected that Ware had left her children alone at home.

A deputy who went to Ware’s home on Chalybeate School Road found the front door unlatched and found three children inside the house, two of whom were twins asleep in cribs.

Relatives and social services workers were notified and Ware returned home as deputies were seeing to the children.

Ware said initially she left the children in the care of a friend before confessing that she left the children by themselves for about two hours while she traveled to Bowling Green, according to the sheriff’s office.

The unharmed children were placed in the care of a relative.
