Dr. Eli Jackson and Dr. Devin Hall of Chandler Park Dental Care know dental care can be expensive and can fall to the bottom of a person’s priority list, so they are hosting their sixth annual Smiles From the Heart event from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at their office to offer free dental care to those in need.

“It’s become such a great community event,” Hall said. We really just have seen a great response from the community, not just the patients receiving the treatments, but members of the community that help us be able to put on an event such as this.”

Hall said 10 dentists from as far as Pennsylvania, along with several dental hygienists and more than 60 volunteers, are coming to help people get needed care who otherwise wouldn’t be able to receive it.

Jackson designed the event to specifically treat people who need urgent care. The day is open to anyone 18 and older needing dental work, with the exception of pregnant women. Chandler Park helped more than 300 patients at last year’s event.

“We love the people of Bowling Green and know that tough times can make even important things like dental care hard to prioritize,” Jackson said in a news release. “That’s why I’ve assembled a team of volunteer dentists, assistants and hygienists to spend a day giving totally free dental care.”

Hall said it’s a long day, but it’s a lot of fun, and the patients are so appreciative and willing to wait for hours to get dental care. Patients will have the choice of a cleaning, a filling or an extraction.

“It really makes the day rewarding. It’s such a fun day from beginning to end. We’re there for a good 12-plus hours, but part of the fun is we’re able to connect with our dental friends and share some ideas of patient care,” Hall said.
