Two men accused of luring a locksmith into being robbed face additional charges after being indicted Wednesday.

Adrian Cannon, 24, and Anthony Young, 25, both of Bowling Green, were indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, receiving stolen property (firearm) and theft by unlawful taking of property valued at $500 or more but less than $1,000.

The pair initially faced a single robbery charge in connection with the Feb. 27 incident on Sheppard Court.

Cannon was arrested Feb. 27 and has remained in Warren County Regional Jail since then under a $10,000 cash bond.

Young is at large and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The case was investigated by the Bowling Green Police Department, which received a call from the alleged victim, who reported that he was called by someone to come to Sheppard Court on a request to make a key for a vehicle.

The locksmith reported that when he arrived, a white man approached and demanded certain items from his truck and took a pack of cigarettes from the truck, according to prior court testimony.

When the locksmith got out of the vehicle, the alleged victim said a light-skinned Black male showed up and began punching him repeatedly, BGPD Detective Victoria Connor testified at a preliminary hearing in March in Warren District Court.

“The white male then pulled a gun from his waistband and struck (the locksmith) in the face with it,” Connor said Wednesday.

The two assailants then ran in the direction of Double Springs Road after a woman walking with a small child witnessed the incident and screamed, police said.

Police spoke with witnesses and investigated the locksmith’s phone activity, which led officers to a McDivit Court apartment where Cannon was staying.

Connor said police found a pack of cigarettes in the bedroom lying on top of a wallet containing Young’s identification, along with a handgun in the closet that was covered up by some clothes.

Property belonging to the locksmith and some clothes matching the description of what the robbers wore was found at the apartment as well, police records show.

Police also obtained dashboard camera footage from the locksmith’s truck that shows the white man walking up to the vehicle when it arrived at Sheppard Court, and later the same man and a Black man running from the area.

Cannon is due to appear Monday in Warren Circuit Court for arraignment.
