What began this morning as a fishing trip for two teens ended in an emergency rescue from the strong current and rocky terrain at Barren River on Old Louisville Road.

Bowling Green firefighters and members of the Bowling Green/Warren County Rescue Squad rescued two stranded fishermen whose boat was struck in the rapids of the Barren River Monday. During the nearly two-hour rescue, a BGFD firefighter was injured when he careened through the rapids after becoming stuck trying to get personal floatation devices to the stranded subjects. The two fishermen and the firefighter were transported to The Medical Center. (Photos by Joe Imel/Daily News)
