A man’s death last month in Franklin from a suspected drug overdose has resulted in the arrest of two people on criminal charges.
According to the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force, the incident was reported Dec. 27 at Fritz Winter, where Justin Hamilton, 33, was found unresponsive.
Hamilton, an active state inmate at Simpson County Detention Center who was employed at Fritz Winter, was transported to The Medical Center in Franklin and then to The Medical Center in Bowling Green, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation involving the task force, the Franklin Police Department and the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office was able to develop two suspects, 32-year-old Jonathan Gipson and 30-year-old Jeris Carver, the task force said.
Gipson was arrested Wednesday in Franklin by task force agents, while Carver was arrested Thursday in Springdale, Ohio, by the Springdale Police Department.
Both men were served with warrants charging them with second-degree manslaughter and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
Carver is being held on a $60,000 cash bond while Gipson is jailed under a $55,000 cash bond.
