Christopher Brian Johnson

Christopher Brian Johnson, 51, passed away unexpectedly May 27, 2013, in Burlington, N.C. He was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., on Oct. 23, 1961, to Edward W. and Linda W. (Wood) Johnson II.

He was a 1980 graduate of Apex High School and attended North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, N.C. Chris – CJ, as he was known to friends and coworkers – worked for most of his professional career in the theatrical industry. He enjoyed acting early on in his career, but what he found most rewarding was the designing and building of sets for each production. He worked with many of the theatrical companies in the Raleigh area, Theatre in the Park, North Carolina Theater and Raleigh Little Theatre, as well with production companies that toured in Europe and South America. Chris was currently employed as the Production Manager/Technical Director for the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center (SKyPAC) in Bowling Green.

Chris is survived by his brother, Bill Johnson (Vickie), his sister, Jill Griffin (Jim), three nephews and one niece, as well as many friends in the Raleigh area and across the nation. Supporting and acknowledging Chris’s love for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chris’s memory to Wake County SPCA. A private family service will be held at a later date.
