Dr. Syed R. Ahsan

Dr. Syed Reza Ahsan, 71, of Bowling Green died at 4 p.m. May 24, 2008, at a Bowling Green nursing home.
The India native was born March 31, 1937. He was a graduate of Aligarh University in India and the University of Florida. He moved to Bowling Green in 1968 where he worked as a professor in the geography department at Western Kentucky University for more than 30 years. During that time, he also worked part-time for NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense in addition to publishing several research papers.
Funeral was May 25 at the Islamic Center of Bowling Green, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens Cemetery on Lovers Lane. J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Khurshida Ahsan; a son, Syed Ahsan and his wife, Huma Idrees Ahsan, of Philadelphia; a daughter, Huma Ahsan Khalid and her husband, Ahsan Khalid, of Madison, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Yyasmeen Khalid and Sofya Khalid.
