Jennie Catherine (Smith) Dixon

Jennie Catherine (Smith) Dixon, age 101, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 17, 2011.

She was born May 21, 1910, in Westerville, Ohio, to the late Elza Franklin and Emma Alice (Westenbarger) Smith. Jennie was a longtime member of Hilltop Christian Church and Hillcrest Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Dixon; five brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her children, Robert A. (Joan) Dixon, Ronald R. (Colleen) Dixon, Mardell “Mardy” (Lew) Leibrand and Vera L. (Bill) Murphree; a sister, Dorothy Jaynes; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jennie loved family and church. She was always willing and ready to serve the needy and the elderly. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, cook, seamstress and friend.

Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at the Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio. Pastor Glenn Perry officiating. Interment will be held privately at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus, Ohio.
