The Rev. Rudolph Chris Brandt, 83, of Bowling Green died Feb. 20, 2006, at his home.
The Avon, S.D., native graduated from Concordia High School before entering Concordia College in St. Paul, Minn., followed by Concord Seminary in St. Louis, to devote his life to the ministry of serving the Lord. He served his vicarage in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elyra, Ohio. He held parishes at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lock Haven, Pa. (1947-1949), St. Paul Lutheran Church in Valley City, Ohio (1949-1962), and retired from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Bowling Green (1962-1985). He continued his work leading Sunday school classes, serving other congregations in Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky, and in other ways the Lord guided him. He was a son of the late Angelus Brandt and Lydia Hahn Brandt. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Fredrick, John, Eddie and Arthur Brandt; two sisters, Louise Jurrens and Emma Wheelhouse; and a grandson, Steven John Olsen.
Funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where he and his wife continued to be members, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and is at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Marie Heathcote Brandt; two sons, Eugene Brandt and his wife, Gayle, of Paducah and Peter Brandt and his wife, Linda, of Bowling Green; three daughters, Linda Olsen and her husband, Robert, of Littleton, Colo., Kathleen Stith and her husband, Franklin, of Battletown, and Charlotte Cummins of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Ervin and James Brandt; four sisters, Leatta Spomer, Elsie Gehring, Leona Moerer and Arlene Dykstra; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
