HORSE CAVE — William T. “Bill” Kinney, 83, of Horse Cave, died at 10 a.m. July 23, 2010, at his home.

The Barren County native was a retired store clerk for Branstetter Hardware after 28 years, a farmer and a member of Bearwallow Masonic Lodge No. 231 F&AM. He was also a member since 1961 of Horse Cave Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran. He was a son of the late Edward Palmer Kinney and Elizabeth Wilson Tisdale Kinney. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward “Doc” Kinney; and two sisters, Mattie Bell Kinney and Bernice Kinney.

Funeral is at 2 p.m. Monday at Winn Funeral Home, with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery with military graveside service by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Masonic rites are at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and begins at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Vilma Jean Kinney; two sons, Terry Whitmer and his wife, Marlene, and Mike Whitmer and his wife, Sandy, all of Horse Cave; three grandchildren, Charles Whitmer and his wife, Brittany, of Buffalo, and Sarah Whitmer and Josh Whitmer, both of Horse Cave; a great-granddaughter, Katie Whitmer, of Buffalo; two sisters, Maxine Wilson and Ruth Crowe, both of Tampa, Fla.; three nieces, Nan Kelly Wilson, Julia Anne Bottomley and her husband, John, and Sue Ellen Carpenter and her husband, Larry, all of Florida; and a great-niece, Cassandra Carlson, of Florida.
