Joy Denton is best choice for family court
Published 12:00 am Friday, October 20, 2006
I am writing to let people know that my friend Joy Denton is running for Family Court Judge in Warren County.
I have worked as an attorney for two years at the Bowling Green law firm in which Joy is a partner. During that time, I have had the opportunity to witness Joy’s professionalism and integrity on a daily basis.

During Joy’s 18 years of practicing law, she has focused her work on the needs of families. Family Court judges decide family law matters that include child custody, paternity, adoption, domestic abuse and divorce cases.
Joy has served as a court-appointed mediator for the Family Court since its inception. It is important for the Family Court judge to have an extensive knowledge of the law. A Family Court judge must have good organization skills to understand the complex personal and financial issues that arise in Family Court proceedings.
It is also essential that a Family Court judge have respect from local attorneys to ensure that justice is arrived at fairly and efficiently. Joy’s knowledge and integrity was recently recognized by the local attorneys in our community. The Bowling Green/Warren County Bar Association sponsored a survey of local lawyers about the upcoming election.
Local attorneys were asked a series of questions concerning the qualifications of the candidates running for Family Court judge. The results of the survey amounted to a decisive victory for Joy. The complete results are posted on Joy’s Web site: www.joyddenton2006.com.
I know that the members of our community will give careful consideration to the Family Court judge election that will occur on Nov. 7. While there are several good attorneys running in the election, Joy is the best candidate. Joy Denton will do a great job for our community and families.

Iranian president must be dealt with
I am a Bowling Green native for 58 years and have never written to the paper.
This message needs to be heard worldwide. Back the nation of Israel at any cost. They are helping to stop terrorism for us here in the U.S. and worldwide. God said he will curse those that curse Israel and bless those that bless Israel. We are to pray for the peace of Jerusalem daily.
Some facts: Iran has been identified as the world’s leading state sponsor of international terrorism, funding Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas, as well as Shiite insurgent groups. Iran is even recruiting its youth and students across the Middle East for suicide operations against Western targets.
Religious extremism, particularly Islamic fundamentalism, is one of the key dangers in the world today. The Iranian president is a religious extremist who believes that it is his destiny to trigger a period of chaos, war and bloodshed in order for Islam to dominate the world.
Nuclear proliferation is one of the greatest dangers to world peace. We must act to stop Iran before it can develop nuclear technology, because the Iranian president has said that he would share nuclear technology with other Muslims.
The president of Iran believes that he is creating an Islamic superpower, which will bring down the West, including the United States. He says that he will have hundreds of millions of Muslim holy raiders eager to become martyrs.
The Iranian president does not believe the Holocaust happened and has called for the destruction of Israel.
If we do not act, we run the risk of placating an extremist and making the same mistake we made with Hitler, which led to World War II and the deaths of millions.

Baker knew park was behind his house
I think people are forgetting one thing about the Beech Bend/Matt Baker problem.
Beech Bend has been there longer than Matt Baker has. Mr. Baker knew what and where Beech Bend was when he bought the property. So why start complaining now?
That’s like moving close to an airport and then trying to shut the airport down because it is too noisy. If Mr. Baker “is a prisoner in his own house on weekends,” that’s because he bought the house there.

Mike Buchanon is deserving of re-election
Warren County has progressed in many ways since Mike Buchanon became judge-executive.
We have the best parks I have ever seen anywhere in Kentucky. Our roads are better maintained than they have ever been.
Emergency response and preparedness equally have grown to a new level. As the director of emergency management of Warren County, I have always known that I had the strong support of Mike Buchanon. He has demonstrated his commitment to hazardous mitigation and disaster preparedness many times through his actions. I can honestly say that I have remained in my job because of Buchanon’s encouragement.
Judge Buchanon has also proved his commitment to the volunteer fire departments of Warren County by providing us with new pumpers, better equipment, a much better revenue stream and better training. I have been an active firefighter for many years and presently serve as the chief of the Alvaton Volunteer Fire Department.
Since Judge Buchanon has been in office, every department has experienced improved insurance ratings, which has lowered property owners’ insurance premiums across the county.
The citizens have much better protection and our volunteer firefighters are safer, thanks to Judge Buchanon. We appreciate him and he’s sure got my vote again and I urge all citizens to cast their vote for Mike Buchanon as our county judge.

Vote for Ron Wilt for school board
I’m writing on behalf of the candidacy of Ray Wilt for Warren County School Board.
Ray Wilt has lived in the Plano community for over 20 years. Both of his children attended Warren County schools.
The need for security in our schools today is great.
Mr. Wilt’s experience from many years of service as a federal law enforcement officer can be a benefit in this area. After his retirement, Ray became actively engaged in several charitable causes.
In 2005, Ray was named Volunteer of the Year by Hospice of Southern Kentucky. For several years his entire family worked as volunteers for New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding.
Ray has been active in our community for many years and would bring valuable experience to our county school board.

Vote Velma Runner for court clerk
When a candidate takes the time and effort to come to my door, I pay attention.
I know that person must have true dedication and drive. One such person is Velma Runner, candidate for Warren County Clerk. I admire her willingness to come to the people.
I’m sure she has been in your neighborhood, too. She has devoted many hours for door-to-door work. To me it shows that she is sincere about serving the people as she asks for votes.
From her credentials I see that she is highly qualified for the position and I know she will be an excellent county clerk.
Join me in voting for Velma Runner – a candidate who will serve the public well.
