More than three weeks has passed since the shooting on the bypass that eventually claimed the life of Brandon Bradshaw. I appreciated the commentary in the Daily News a few weeks ago. Much of my career has been spent in media, and while I understand the need for time for investigation, it seems like far too much time has passed without information to be released to the public.
At this point, it seems like the delay is mainly for the purpose of hoping people will forget that someone was shot and died and justice was denied for the victim. All the public has seen are pictures of the scene, video after the fact and interviews of people in the area.
From my point of view, it appeared the man in the front truck stopped, blocking the second truck and preventing that man from leaving while he walked back and shot him three times. According to his lawyer’s statements, he was in fear for his life. I don’t know what others would do in that situation. If I were in the front vehicle, I believe I’d get the “the heck outta Dodge” while I was calling 911. Maybe it is time for reporters to ask why the delay has been so lengthy. Brandon Bradshaw was denied the opportunity to tell his side of the story. Let’s not forget there is another side.
