Jim Waters’ recent column ("Kentucky's pension wars arrive, but peace is possible," Sept. 2) gives a misleading account of a consultant’s recommendations for Kentucky’s pension problems. True, there would still be pensions. But for most retirees they could be greatly reduced from current levels. The big savings the PFM consultants recommend come from revoking cost-of-living increases granted from 1996 to 2012, the year Kentucky retirement COLA’s ended. This is a detail Waters never mentions.
